Sound In Color
The images below are digital photographs of sound vibrations in water. Using an acrylic box to hold water, I vibrate the box using speakers which creates the ripples and patterns seen below. These images are in the process of being colored based on a color palette and profile developed from synesthesia research. Synesthesia, and more specifically, Chromesthesia, is a neurological condition that makes one sense involuntarily trigger another. In this case sound triggers the visual sensation of color. By coloring the images of sound vibrations based on this special color palette, sound can be seen in color. This process will be complete in the coming months of 2017.
